OTC Elite’s Lauren Fleshman prepares to run 5,000 meters
Next Friday, OTC Elite athlete Lauren Fleshman will run the 5,000 meters at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Stockholm. As she is preparing for that race, she wrote on her blog about “A fantastic (and painful) workout on the track in Font Romeu with a star studded cast”:
“Oh (rapid breath) my (rapid breath) uhhhh (rapid breath) aaaayyyyeee…
Ouch.
Two sets done out of three and I’m hunched over, moaning like Meg Ryan in “When Harry Met Sally.” Good thing there are only other professionals on the track; civilians assume I’m being tortured by my coach and start nervously pulling out their cellphones when I’m like this.” Good luck Lauren!
Oscar Pistorius meets “A” standard
Listen to South African athlete Oscar Pistorius describe to FloTrack his thrill of meeting the IAAF “A” standard so that he can compete at 400 meters in Daegu, South Korea in the World Championships.
TrackTown, USA was thrilled to watch Pistorius run at the Prefontaine Classic – and we look forward to seeing him race in Daegu.
Herculis Diamond League Monaco
OTC Elite’s Nick Symmonds joins a star studded line up in star studded Monaco tomorrow. He will race against World Record holder David Rushida of Kenya and fellow American (and Team USA member) Khadevis Robinson.
In other Herculis action, the Men’s 5,000 meters will be a race to watch! Americans Galen Rupp, Chris Solinski, Matt Tegencamp and Bernard Legat will race against some of the best in the world: Mo Farah, Tariku Bekele and Imane Merga. Wow!
On the field, Stephanie Brown-Trafton and Aretha Thurmond will get a chance to throw against some of the best discus throwers around.
Oh, and that fast guy? Usain Bolt is scheduled to run the 100 meters as well.
After this week’s meet in Monaco, there are two more Diamond League meets before Worlds: next week in Stockholm and then the first weekend in August in London. You can watch live on-line and television (where scheduled) on Universal Sports.
