The Prefontaine Classic is bringing some amazing athletes to TrackTown to compete on June 4.
Oscar Pistorius — the double amputee who has become known as “The Blade Runner” –will compete in the 400 meters. Pre meet director Tom Jordan told the Register Guard: “I think his participation is an opportunity for Oregon fans to see one of the great stories currently in track and field. He’s known world-wide as ‘The Blade Runner,’ and he has been ruled eligible to compete in IAAF track and field meets. We think the fans at Hayward Field will give him a warm welcome, and hopefully he’ll set a personal best.”
